Carol Maher Obituary
Carol Jean Maher (Briscoe), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Florida with her husband by her side. Born on December 9, 1947, in Sacramento, California, Carol was a vibrant spirit whose love and warmth touched all who knew her.
On July 12, 1975, Carol married Steve Maher, beginning an almost 50 year beautiful journey together that would take them across the country due to Steve’s service in the Air Force. They formed lasting friendships from coast to coast, eventually settling in Florida to enjoy the warmth of the sun and the beauty of nature from their back porch at Patrick SFB, where they delighted in watching the beautiful sunsets, rocket launches and local wildlife.
Carol was the proud mother of three children: Christina Maher of Eugene, Oregon; Angela Fletcher (husband Curtis) of Eagle, Idaho; and Gregory Maher (wife Marcy) of Clarksville, Tennessee. Her legacy continues through her ten cherished grandchildren: Kristen Setliff, Ashley Ludwig, Ryan Grottkau, Bryce Maher, Trevor Fletcher, Sean Grottkau, Morgan Himmelman, Hailey Fletcher, Jared Maher, and Zachary Maher, as well as her twelve great-grandchildren. She had a deep, unwavering love for her family.
In addition to her immediate family, Carol is survived by her brother Robert Briscoe, her sister Donna Zuppo, and numerous beloved relatives, including Darrel Curtis, Bob Briscoe, Jim Briscoe, Tim Briscoe, and Denise Curtis Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Novella Briscoe, and her nephew, Michael Curtis.
Carol was deeply committed to her family, celebrating every important milestone—weddings, graduations, and the births of her great-grandchildren. Her presence was a source of support and love, and she created lasting memories that will be treasured by her family forever. Carol became a pro at video chatting. She was happiest being with her family and seeing them happy.
Carol will be remembered not just for her unwavering love but also for her infectious spirit and the joy she brought to those around her. She was a wonderful friend to many, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 10:30am on November 15, 2024 at the Price Funeral Chapel in Citrus Heights, California, allowing family and friends to come together to honor her memory. A burial at the Fair Oaks Cemetery in Fair Oaks will directly follow the service. Carol Maher will be dearly missed but will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
